Marginal farmers belonging to dalit and tribal communities own dry land given to them by the government of which some part is often not cultivable. To help such families, WDT has been carrying out land clearing using both manual labour and machinery for the past five years.
An extent of 56,962.71 acres of land was treated under ‘Land Development Program’ benefiting 21,112 poor farmers spread across 428 – Villages up to the end of 2011. Additional land to an extent of 10,614.98 acres of land could be brought under cultivation.
